Embarking on a poignant journey into the heart of motherhood, this project unfolds against the backdrop of an island in Mexico during the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic. These mothers, faced with the daunting task of protecting their children in a state of unknown, became the silent heroes of their own narratives.

In the midst of water and food shortages, months of isolation, and the necessity to adjust to a new and challenging reality, these women displayed unparalleled resilience. Their stories are not just tales of survival but narratives of unconditional love, sacrifice, admiration, and respect. The project, born out of a desire to give back to the community during a difficult time, evolved into a celebration of endurance amidst adversity.

Through the lens of my camera, I aimed to capture the essence of these mothers—the depth of their love and the sacrifices made for the well-being of their families. Each photograph in this family portrait series is a testament to the enduring spirit of these women, showcasing the unspoken bonds that hold families together.
